IMMERSION HEATER TUBES

A range of tubes are offered with high mechanical integrity and homogeneity together with high thermal conductivity and a wide range of operating temperatures. The original NICARB material has been joined by our CERTS-ZN formulation to extend the operational capability into high thermal inputs required for heating Zinc baths.

 

The technologists at Ceramco were amongst the first to combine isostatic pressing and nitride bonding technologies to allow manufacture of a range of Immersion Heater tubes based on Silicon Carbide grain.

 

IHT provide an efficient way to heat holding and process furnaces containing a range of metals without risk of contamination of the bath. They are available in various diameters and lengths.

 

Power can be supplied by electrical heating elements or the more commonly used recuperative gas fired systems where an internal firing tube directs the flow of combustion products to encourage recirculation, maximise thermal efficiency and avoid uneven temperature distribution.

 

NICARB – Nitride bonded SiC

 

NICARB – Nitride bonded SiC provides a range of operational benefits including:

  • No attack by molten aluminium
  • High thermal conductivity allows lower internal temperatures
  • High mechanical integrity maintained at high operating temperatures
  • Available for electrical or recuperative gas heating systems.

CERTS-ZN Carbon bonded SiC

 

CERTS-ZN Carbon bonded SiC has been developed to improve performance at the lower operating temperatures associated with Zinc melting and continuous wire galvanizing baths. They extend the range of operational temperatures provided by NICARB IHT.

 

  • The introduction of flake graphite and protective body glazes precludes nitride bonding, but greatly increases thermal conductivity and reduces thermal stresses associated with high heat transfer.
  • A glaze coating inside and out reduces the risk of oxidation causing low temperature degradation
